| Windvertising |

"If the 500,000 billboards on U.S. highways were outfitted with wind turbines and the wind blew steady at 10 mph for one year, those ads could power approximately 1.5 million homes and prevent the release of 5.3 million tons of carbon into the atmosphere.
That's according to WePower, a clean energy company that's just begun designing eco-outdoor alternatives for advertisers with its Windvertising products. The California-based company is currently putting the final touches on a 45-foot-tall Times Square billboard for the Japanese electronics company Ricoh. (The turbines were installed in December and are still undergoing modifications—WePower plans to have the billboard fully functional by Earth Day, April 22.) The New York City billboard is equipped with 16 wind turbines, 64 solar panels and LED floodlights. At an average speed of 10 mph, the average wind speed in Times Square, the turbines will generate about 22 kilowatts of energy per hour, enough to power four houses. The clean energy produced will avoid 18 tons of carbon emissions as well as energy bills in the tens of thousands."

Pretty cool when advertising can help the greenification process in an immediate way. Plus, "windvertising" makes me think of "win-vertising," which makes me think, EPIC WIN! |

I know that it is freezing, but I think we have to walk I keep waving at the taxis, they keep turning their lights off But Julie knows a party at some actor's West side loft Supplies are endless in the evening by the morning they'll be gone
When everything is lonely I can be my own best friend I'll get a coffee and the paper, have my own conversations with the sidewalk and the pigeons and my window reflection The mask I polish in the evening by the morning looks like shit
And I know you have a heavy heart, I can feel it when we kiss So many men stronger than me have thrown their backs out trying to lift it But me I'm not a gamble, you can count on me to split The love I sell you in the evening by the morning won't exist
You're looking skinny like a model with your eyes all painted black Just keep going to the bathroom, always say you'll be right back Well, it takes one to know one, kid, I think you've got it bad But what's so easy in the evening by the morning's such a drag
I got a flask inside my pocket, we can share it on the train And if you promise to stay conscious I will try and do the same We might die from medication, but we sure killed all the pain But what was normal in the evening by the morning seems insane
And I'm not sure what the trouble was that started all of this The reasons all have run away, but the feeling never did It's not something I would recommend, but it is one way to live Cause what is simple in the moonlight by the morning never is
It was so simple in the moonlight now it's so complicated It was so simple in the moonlight, so simple in the moonlight So simple in the moonlight... |

Under a bill pending before the Florida Senate, trees on public property in the Sunshine State would not be allowed to block views of billboards. The controversial bill, which has been approved by the Florida House, would create a 500-foot tree-free zone around billboards along roads with speed limits greater than 35 mph and a 350-foot zone for roads with speeds under 35 mph. --The Miami Herald (4/19) |

Volkswagen AG's American unit is bringing back the Rabbit name for its struggling Golf model, in hopes that nostalgia for the 1970s hatchback will warm U.S. car buyers to the current version; the Golf is a perennial best-seller in Europe. "Volkswagen customers want a relationship with their cars," said Kerri Martin, VW's brand innovation director. "Names like The Thing, Beetle, Fox, and Rabbit support this." The Detroit News (4/12)

That’s what makes it interesting – the journey. I know that sounds cheesy and cliché, but it’s really true. Otherwise, what’s the point? Experience everything, man, and never pigeon-hole yourself. And rock the fuck on. Word.

If this doesn't work like it is supposed to, I'm going to explode. And then we're going to have a nice mess of shattered bones, gore, mp3s, and blood splattered all over these walls. |
